Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 3 dominant eye at high pressure. This is basic safety – if you haven't got shooting glasses already, do yourself a favour. In my recent past President's reports, I have complained that we could not meet with the SFFP upper house members. I am pleased to report that we have finally met and discussed our differences and our synergies. While there are still some differences, we have agreed that we do have many common objectives and it is healthier for the shooting sports if we concentrate on the common goals rather than the differences. This will provide some clean air for each organisation to progress what they believe is best for the shooting sports. I am very pleased with the outcomes of the meeting. The directors that have held their positions for the last 12 months or longer have completed their director training with the Australian Institute of Company Directors, which we began at the end of last year. This training is invaluable because, although we are volunteers, the directors are responsible for your SSAA NSW under law. Training on Governance, Financial Management and Risk Management has made your directors better equipped to lead a large organisation such as SSAA NSW in a professional and successful way. The new directors elected at the 2018 AGM will also complete the same course. The directors have also completed a HR training module on "working with respect". In some instances, our organisation needs to work harder to treat all members, staff, volunteers, committees etc with the same respect that each of us believe we should receive ourselves. The board will set the culture that we believe will make our SSAA NSW the best organisation to enjoy our sport in a safe and friendly environment. Finally, the strategic planning review for SSAA NSW will occur in September. What would you like to see our future organisation look like? If so, put your thoughts into an email to LanceM@nsw.ssaa.org.au I am looking for a succinct sentence, something like "SSAA NSW will seek to source an income stream from other income paths other than just memberships" which is one of my favourites. You should not try to say how to achieve this objective, that is for the planners, the board and the management to integrate into a strategic plan and the budget to achieve. Usually about 3 of these top line strategic goals form the core directions of the Strategic Plan and they become the influencers of our future for SSAA NSW. Stay safe on the range and in the field.
