We have seen a change in the ways that members hunt and this includes the increasing usage of Motorbikes, Quad's and ATV's. In the February 2019 Australian Shooter, we launched our advertising campaign in regard to "Are your toys covered" - this is aimed at the ever-increasing ownership of Motorbikes, Quad's & ATV's. We are able to insure these items for Fire and Theft Cover but as the majority are unregistered there is no Third Party Property Damage (TPPD) or Personal Injury Cover under the policy. In NSW Motor policies only provide TPPD cover if the vehicle is registered. The Personal Injury cover would normally be provided via Compulsory Third Party (commonly known as CTP or Greenslip Insurance that you require prior to registering a vehicle). So where do you stand with your Unregistered Vehicles? We would recommend that owners of ATV's contact their household building and contents insurer to enquire as to what cover they receive under these policies for Liability Insurance. Coverage can vary between insurers in regard to the terms, conditions and exclusions etc that would apply.
