34 This was a trial run for a larger inter-regional match in future, when restrictions have eased. I'm sure some of our members went into this match with lots of confidence and high hopes for a reasonable score. Well! A steep learning curve was certainly achieved! Those who normally shoot bench-rest with nice clear scope sights and specialist calibre rifles were in for a bit of a shock, firing prone, sitting position or off the shoulder, unsupported at times. The rifles were standard as issued Lee Enfield .303 service rifles, standard battle sights and webbing army sling. No telescopic sights or adjustable rear sights, just as our servicemen used in World War 1 and 2, Korea and the Malayan emergency. Charlie Howard top scored for the day with 102 points, Jim Barling 63, Mitch Wilson 56 and our "Smiling Jack" Camilin 32. Many thanks must go to Marita Basham for all her help on the day, with setting up, scoring and just helping wherever she saw a need. Thank you also to Neil Meers for driving to Mudgee to pick up the required special targets. Thank you very much to those who competed and helped with your ideas, input and comments. At the end of the day everyone was still smiling and agreeing we must do this again. On Saturday, 5 September 2020, a SSAA Combined Services Re-enactment Match was held with five local members competing. Gilgandra Combined Services Shoot RICK O'SHAY
