Letter to NSW Police Minister Michael Gallacher ! Please complete your details, cut along the dotted lines and send to Minister Gallacher. The Hon. Michael Gallacher, MLC Minister for Police and Emergency Services Level 33 Governor Macquarie Tower 1 Farrer Place SYDNEY NSW 2000 Dear Minister As one of the 48,000 members of the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. ("SSAA NSW"). I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know I strongly oppose recent changes to firearms legislation in NSW. Please complete your details, cut along the dotted lines and send to Minister Gallacher. In particular I am concerned about providing my home address whenever I purchase ammunition for my legally owned firearm. I believe this constitutes a serious safety concern for my family and I, who already go to great lengths to ensure that firearms are stored securely and in accordance with the law. Minister, as you would be well aware, NSW Firearms Licences deliberately do not list the home address of a licence holder because doing so would put them at risk in the event the details were lost or stolen. Given these new requirements, the majority of Firearms Dealers are recording these transactions on hard copy registers, which may allow for unauthorised access or copying of purchasers details. If these details were ever to fall into the wrong hands they would provide criminals with a shopping list of addresses they can target to illegally obtain firearms. On behalf of all licensed, law abiding firearm owners in this State I strongly urge you to review these changes and work with SSAA NSW on sensible and effective firearms laws that will make a real difference on crime in NSW. Yours Sincerely, Name: ! Address: Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc.
