On Target for 50,000 Members You may remember that last year SSAA NSW announced our highly ambitious membership goals for 2013 and 2014. Specifically we set ourselves a target of 50,000 members by the end of 2013 and 60,000 by the end of 2014. As we are now halfway through the year it seems an appropriate time to give our members an update on the progress of our membership drive. With 6 months of the year gone we are already sitting at almost 48,000 members in New South Wales – putting us within sight of our 2013 goal of 50,000. So we are well on track to meet our first goal, but we don't want to fall over the line on December 31st – we want to set ourselves up to meet our goal of 60,000 members in 2014 and in doing so become the largest SSAA State in Australia. In coming months SSAA NSW is going to be out and about to promote the safe, fun and unique range of shooting sports. As you would have read in the June NSW Shooter we recently visited Griffith for the Riverina Field Days. Later this month the Mobile Air Rifle Range will be venturing to Wagga Wagga to show off our sport to some of the locals and in August we will be travelling to Gunnedah to attend AgQuip – the largest Agricultural Show on the Australian calendar. Each of these is an opportunity for us to not only re-connect with our members but to reach out to the new shooters and hunters who will drive our sport forward. Hunter of the Year SSAA National has declared 2013 as the Year of the Hunter and have provided each State with two cash prizes of $1000 each which will be awarded to both the Junior and Senior Hunter of the Year. We are currently working on the criteria for the Award, so please continue to check our website and sign up for our E-News to find out the latest details about how you can win. SSAA National have also taken out billboards promoting the Year of the Hunter in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. The Sydney billboard is located at 126 Flinders Street, Surry Hills 2 NSW Shooter moving online This will be the final print edition of the NSW Shooter as it moves to a new digital format from August. There are numerous benefits to moving the magazine online as we will be able to bring you more news, reports, interviews, features and photos from around the State. The digital NSW Shooter can be viewed on the SSAA NSW website or SSAA NSW Facebook page and will also be sent electronically to our E-News subscribers.
