28 Clothing can sometimes fail in the bush. Your favourite camo shirt might have been torn on a fence or shredded by blackberries. Take the time to make any repairs or purchase new clothing that can't be repaired. You might also want to try them on again to make sure they still fit. You should also make sure your boots are clean and waterproofed. You might need to replace the laces and the insoles. And don't forget to have your item of blaze orange clothing (e.g. – hat, beanie, shirt, jacket, vest or buff) ready to go. 9. VEHICLES Is your hunting rig overdue for a service? Have you checked the tyres? Do you have the right recovery equipment? Is the spare tyre inflated? Is the battery charging? Visit a qualified mechanic and get your vehicle safety checked before heading out on your next hunt. Make sure you have roadside assistance, so you're not caught out if you suddenly break down. 10. IS YOUR FIREARM OR BOW SIGHTED-IN? As soon as you can travel, make a date at your local gun or bow range. Make sure your favourite rifle is sighted-in and use the same type of ammunition you will use on the hunt. The same goes for bows! Sight in your hunting bow using the same arrows and broadheads that you will use on the hunt. Practice until you're satisfied with your ability to make a clean, one-shot kill. Remember that sighting-in of firearms or bows is not permitted on any public land. By following these simple tips, you can be sure that you will be prepared, safe and responsible when you're out on your next hunt.
