38 The NSW State Titles for the Colonial Action Discipline were hosted by SSAA Mudgee Branch and held over the weekend of 26-28 March 2021 on Range 1, at the picturesque Windamere Regional Shooting Complex, 35km from Mudgee. The Windamere Regional Shooting Complex is an ideal location to host Colonial Action events as it has the ability to cater for our "main stage" events, as well as the long range rifle "side events". It also boasts a lovely camping area, an amenities block, kitchen facilities, and an undercover area suitable for conducting our AGM. It was a great relief to all the Colonial Shooters to be able to again come together for this event, after many of our scheduled events in the previous twelve months, including the 2020 State Titles, had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We were fortunate that, at the time of the State Titles, there were limited restrictions in place in NSW, meaning that we could conduct the shoot with only minor changes to ensure a COVID-safe event. For those who are not aware of the Colonial Action Discipline, it is an off-shoot of the Single (Western) Action Discipline, the main difference being that in Colonial Action, we use one pistol instead of two, and the pistol may be single action, percussion or double action. We also use side-by-side shots guns, lever action rifles and Martini Cadet rifles. Anyone who has participated in Western Action Shooting, however, will see many similarities with Colonial Action. For the purposes of the Colonial Action Discipline, the" Colonial" period has been defined as the years between circa 1850 and no later than the time of Federation on 1 January 1901. This recognises that the colonial period ended when the Commonwealth of Australia was inaugurated. Participants in Colonial Action are required to use original or reproduction firearms typical of mid to late nineteenth century Australia. BOB CONRAN
