July 18, 19 & 20 "Many participants tried all the guns that were available, and we had to drag some of them away by the end of it! Hitting the splash plate at a full 500m on their first try was a lot of fun for the visitors." As well as instructing on the day, a number of SSAA NSW Wagga Branch members also brought their own firearms and ammunition for the Try Shooting Day participants to use. but also those who assisted with the Mobile Air Rifle Range. Without their support we couldn't run an event like this." After trying out the sport for themselves, many stayed well into the afternoon to watch some of Wagga's Black Powder shooters show off some of the bigger guns (and even a cannon!). "I brought my Sako Finnfire 22lr with a RDT Skeleton Stock and Weaver T36, a Stolle Panda in 6mmBR with a Lilja Barrel, McMillan stock and NightForce 12-42x56BR and my Rossi 357 Lever Action." SSAA NSW Wagga Branch President Greg Hannon was very pleased with the turn-out on the day. Seeing the cannon fired was a highlight for many SSAA NSW Executive Director Diana Melham was enthusiastic about the results of the trial and said she expected that more Branches would be involved in the future. Greg's Sako Finnfire being put to good use by an eager new shooter "Despite the pretty awful weather, we were thrilled with the turnout from the general public, and I'm very confident that we will see some of these new shooters back out at the Range very soon." "The Mobile Air Rifle Range is a great way to get new people interested in the sport, and this trial showed that if we can set it up in a highly visible location, people will take a few minutes to try it for themselves." "Thanks to SSAA NSW Wagga Branch for all their hard work, and congratulations to them for hosting such a successful Try Shooting Day." Tim Horan Media & Communication Manager "I also want to thank the ROs and members from Wagga Branch who helped out, not just at the Try Shooting Day Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 5
