Make sure your firearms and bows are clean and in safe working order.
Sight-in your hunting equipment before your hunt. Remember, target shooting is not permitted on public
land.
Check the weather before going out on your hunt. Check the Bureau of Meteorology website:
www.bom.gov.au for weather conditions and visit the forestry website for any forest or road closures:
www.forestrycorporation.com.au/visit/closures.
If camping, check your camping gear is ready and remember that you can only legally camp with firearmsand
hunting equipment in the State forest you have permission to hunt. It's illegal to have hunting equipment in a
State forest, unless you hold an R-Licence and written permission for the forest you are in with that
equipment. To find out which NSW State forests have designated camping facilities, check the Forestry
Corporation of NSW website www.forestrycorporation.com.au/visit/forests
Keep in mind that daytime hunting rules apply- you may only hunt using a firearm or bow 30 minutes before
sunrise through to 30 minutes after sunset.
Need to cancel your hunt? Simply amend your dates or forest if the permission hasn't started or cancel
altogether. You can amend or cancel up to the start date of your hunt. Need to cut your hunt short? If your
written permission has already commenced, simply complete your harvest return to complete the booking -
the balance of days you've booked then become available to other licence holders.
