Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 3 From Diana's Desk Update on Supplementary Pest Control Program The partnership with NPWS to provide qualifi ed volunteers for the SPC Program continues to grow and evolve. To date we've had nearly 400 members express an interest in the Program and they are all at various stages of application, accreditation and training. Once they have successfully completed the process they will be eligible to participate in the various operations that will be undertaken in the 12 parks and reserves over the 3 year trial. Information Days have been hosted in Sydney and Griffi th with further days being planned for Dubbo, Armidale, Queanbeyan and another one in Sydney. The fi rst trial operation was held recently which enabled us to run through all of our procedures to ensure they were appropriate and adequate. It was very pleasing to see that this trial operation was a success and we are now dedicated to assisting all of our interested members through the accreditation and training process. For more information on the SPC program please visit www.ssaansw.org.au SSAA SHOT Expo returns to Sydney in 2014 This year we've moved to Rosehill Gardens and will be holding an indoor/outdoor Expo within a precinct. This change has allowed us to not only increase the space for exhibitions, but also incorporate an outdoor area with entertainment and displays as well as cater better for families. Transport and parking will be much easier with trains right to the entry gates and free parking. In 2012 more than 10,000 people attended SHOT Expo and with more exhibitors, more space and more attractions than ever before we are confi dent that in 2014, even more people will attend. You can fi nd more information on the SHOT Expo 2014 website at www.shotexpo.com.au Attendance period closes 31 March Any members that have not yet met their minimum number of range attendances for the 2013/2014 reporting year must do so by Monday 31 March 2014. If you are unsure about your attendance requirements or current status, please contact the SSAA NSW Offi ce on 02 8889 0400 or by email to attendances@nsw.ssaa.org.au For more information about attendances, please view the Attendances FAQ on our website. Branch Visits Over the past couple of weeks I have had the opportunity to visit with several Branches including Newcastle, Southern Highlands, Kempsey, Bellingen, Coffs Harbour, Grafton and Northern Rivers and was once again reminded of the passion, dedication and innovation of our members and Branches throughout the State. With more than 50,000 members throughout NSW our network of 49 Branches and 100 Affi liate Clubs provide great support to our members and are our fi rst line in promoting our great sport. Branch AGMS – Have Your Say Branch AGMS are a perfect time for members to become involved in setting the future direction of their Branches, as well as receive reports and updates from their Branch Committee on the activities of the previous year and elect the Branch Committee for the coming year. I would encourage any members interested in getting more involved to contact their Branch and fi nd out when their AGM will be held. Diana Melham Executive Director - SSAA (NSW) Inc.
