Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 4 The SSAA NSW State Hunter titles were held in Coffs Harbour on May 17 to 20, and for once the weather was really kind to us with near perfect conditions for all 4 days. The programme was Light Rimfire 50 and 100 yards on Saturday, Heavy Rimfire 50 and 100 yards on Sunday, Light Centrefire 100 and 200 yards on Monday and finally Heavy Centrefire 100 and 200 yards on Tuesday. Overall we had 98 adults and 9 Juniors competing over the 4 days. National Benchrest (Hunter) records tumbled on Sunday with the first two placed in the Heavy Rimfire 50 yards breaking the old record by 3 points. 3rd place broke the old record by 1 point and a Junior equalled the old record of 250;17 to take 4th. The 2 gun Rimfire record for both Saturday and Sunday competition was also broken. In the other events records were broken for 2 gun RF CF Light, 2 gun RF CF Heavy, 2 gun Centrefire and 4 gun RF CF Light Heavy. Local shooter Ian Thompson came 3rd in Heavy Rimfire 50 yards, 1st in Heavy Centrefire 200 yards, 3rd in RF CF Heavy and 3rd in 2 gun Heavy Centrefire, as a bonus he also received a 500 patch. Record results were as follows: 50 yards Rimfire Heavy: Norm Bardell Qld 250.20, Bob Blacklock NSW 250.20, Ian Thompson NSW 250.18. 2 gun Rimfire: Glen Seaman NSW 995.26. 2 gun Centrefire: Bill Jupp 998.48. 2 gun RF CF: Bill Jupp 994.34. 2 gun RF CF Heavy: Paul Sullivan Qld 1000.44. 4 gun RF CF Light Heavy: Bill Jupp 1991.79 meaning he only dropped 9 shots in 4 days of competition, which is fantastic shooting. Bill and Paul also received 500 patches. Other results were as follows: Top Ten Rimfire Light: Glen Seaman 498.06, Bill Jupp 496.12, Hannah Seaman (Jnr) 494.16, Paul Sullivan 494.14, Kim Kosstick 492.13, Emily Seaman (Jnr) 492.07, Barry Nichols 490.11, Norm Wheeler 490.09, Peter Fleming 489.11 and Neville Kime 489.11. Top Ten Heavy Rimfire: Paul Sullivan 500.18, John Matthews 499.19, Kim Kosstick 499.17, Bob Blacklock 498.23, Hannah Seaman 498.22, Ben West 498.16, Ray Fuller 498.15, Norm Bardell 497.26, Peter Nicoll 497.22 and Glen Seaman 497.20. Top Ten Light Centrefire: Bill Jupp 498.22, Neville Kime 491.12, Karl Kuehn 487.11, Ean Parsons 485.14, Joy Harrison 485.07, Trevor Whittaker 483.15, Richard Powell 475.05, Ira Rolley 464.09, Gary Hunt 456.02 and Don Irving 441.03. Top Ten Heavy Centrefire: Bill Jupp 500.26, Paul Sullivan 500.26, Ian Thompson 500.22, Trevor Whittaker 499.26, Barry Nicolls 499.24, Ira Rolley 499.20, Rob Hamilton 499.18, Karl Kuehn 498.24, Gary Hunt 498.23 and Ean Parsons 498.23. Top 3 Rimfire 2 Gun: Glen Seaman 995.26, Paul Sullivan 994.32 and Bill Jupp 993.31. Top 3 Centrefire 2 Gun: Bill Jupp 998.48, Karl Kuehn 985.35 and Neville Kime 985.26. Top 3 4 Gun: Bill Jupp 1991.79, Neville Kime 1968.54 and Trevor Whittaker 1965.67. A big thank you to all who worked so hard to make this tournament possible, our next major event this year is the Banana Coast Centrefire Championships in August held over 3 days. We are holding an experimental class on the Monday, which is a first for the Branch. Our final event for the year will be the National Hunter Championship held over 4 days in September.
