Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 6 SSAA NSW members dominate in Perth at the SSAA National 5 Stand Championships 10 SSAA members from NSW headed to Perth on the long weekend to compete at the SSAA National 5-Stand Championships with success. The NSW team comprising of Brett Inch (Temora), Grant Barton (Bathurst), Greg Allen (Griffith), Peter Jacka (Hay) & Darren Macartney (Hay) were successful in winning the team trophy against fellow WA shooters by 4 targets; a very closely contested event. SSAA WA held a successful 200 target event with a great variety of targets thrown over 4 layouts over the 2 days. The layouts were set amongst the clearings with a spectacular display of native shrubs and flowers. Grant Barton shot the only perfect 25 for the 2 day event; with consistent shooting Grant was able to secure the National Championship by 3 targets shooting a 166/200 from WA shooter Jason Yozzi 163/200. After applying the selection criteria to all shooters (best 2 selections % score, plus state title % score, plus national % score) the Top 5 shooters that made the National Team for 2014 to represent SSAA in New Zealand later in the year came from NSW; in fact they were the SSAA NSW team who were ranked top 5 at the finish of the weekend. Grant Barton 392.7%, Brett Inch 387.0%, Greg Allen 377.5%, Darren Macartney 374.8%, & Peter Jacka 369.2%. First reserve is Brent Suprain (Bateau Bay NSW) 361.7% and Peter Grayer (Perth WA) 358.9%.
