Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 7 2014 Bananacoast Benchrest Centerfi re Championship This year's Bananacoast Benchrest Centerfi re Championship was held from Saturday 23 to Monday 25 August 2014 at the SSAA NSW Coffs Harbour range. More than 40 shooters competed in the Saturday light-fi re and Sunday heavy-fi re events with around 15 staying to compete in the Experimental Class on Monday. The weather was reasonably kind with the rain over the weekend not troubling the shooters who all had a great time. There were also some strong scores recorded and amazing shooting in particular from local shooter Danny Rosewood. He hit a screamer of .070 in the 100 yards HB. Standing out from the rest was NSW shooter Mitchell Tallar who shot a .2571, .2145 and a 2 gun .2358. Just as impressive in second was Murray Hicks with .2511, .2319 and 2 gun .2415. Both the top shots went on to represent NSW in the Benchrest Centerfi re State of Origin. Like their Rugby League counterparts, the NSW shooting team took out this year's competition against Queensland. Along with Mitchell and Murray were Anthony Foate and Darren Parsons; the four retained the crown for their state after a closely fought battle against the Queensland team of Annie Elliott, Steve Blaine, Richard Powell and Rhys Edgeley. SSAA NSW Executive Director, Diana Melham competed in the Saturday competition, shooting a very respectable .4171. At the conclusion of the days shooting Diana presented two of Coffs Harbour's hardest workers Neil Starr and Greg Sutherland with Valued Club Member awards from SSAA NSW. Neil and Greg have been a big part of the Branch and their involvement in the club over the past has been invaluable. Top Scores: Mitchell Tallar .2571, .2145, 2 gun .2358.
