The report on the Championships along with stories on the Duval High team and its team members can be found on the following pages but I would like to congratulate the young shooters, their coaches and parents for their support. As we've recognised many times in the NSW Shooter, juniors are a big part of the future of our sport. SSAA NSW has a number of subsidies available to junior members and our Branches to encourage participation, training and coaching of juniors. It's extremely pleasing to see the team of Douglas, Alicia, Ben, Wil, Karl and Melanie showing us a prime example of the junior talent that is present in NSW and indeed Australia. The team shot well beyond their years and impressed many of the more experienced shooters not only with their skill, but their behaviour and attitudes. We look forward to the team donning their SSAA NSW shirts and jackets in many competitions in the future. Girls' Night In 2014 Our first Girls' Night In will be held on Friday 17 October at St Marys Indoor Shooting Centre (SMISC) from 6.30 to 9.30pm. The SSAA NSW and SMISC team have been working hard to plan and promote the charity event and we cannot wait for the night. It's an important initiative that supports the NSW Cancer Council and raises money for their Pink Ribbon campaign which aims to raise awareness about breast and gynaecological cancers. The cost is $70 per person which will be donated to our Pink Ribbon donation tally for NSW Cancer Council. So far we have almost 90 ladies booked in but last minute bookings can still be made up till Thursday 16 October depending on availabilities, more details can be found on page 11. We hope this will be the first of many such events which raise money for a great cause and also let people enjoy the safe, fun and unique sport of shooting for the first time. Attendance Reminder With the end of 2014 quickly drawing to a close it's an opportune time to remind members about their Attendance obligations. Members who have 'Target' registered as an activity on their SSAA Membership Card are required to complete a minimum of four range attendances between 1 April 2014 and 31 March 2015. Members who have 'Hunting' must complete a minimum of two attendances and members with 'Collecting' need to attend at least one meeting, most commonly the AGM. If you have more than one activity registered for your SSAA membership you MUST complete the required number of attendances for each activity. However, if you have 'Target' and 'Hunting' you can complete an attendance for each during the same range visit – just remember to mark on the attendance slip for both activities when signing the SSAA NSW Attendance Book. As a service to our members, SSAA NSW will again send a courtesy reminder letter in January 2015 to anyone who has not completed their minimum number of attendances to ensure they have enough time before the 31 March 2015 deadline to complete these. You can contact the SSAA NSW Office to check on the number of attendances you have completed. Either send an email to attendances@nsw.ssaa.org.au or call 02 8889 0400 and select the option to speak to the SSAA NSW Office. Diana Melham Executive Director - SSAA (NSW) Inc.
