Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 4 2014 GIRLS' NIGHT IN 'Try Shooting' fundraiser raised $11,000 for Cancer Council NSW More than 100 women 'united in pink' to help raise $11,000 at a Girls' Night In charity fundraiser hosted by Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc (SSAA NSW) and St Marys Indoor Shooting Centre (SMISC) on Friday 17 October. Around 50 women are diagnosed with breast and gynaecological cancers in Australia every day. The Cancer Council NSW's Pink Ribbon campaign and events like this Girls' Night In promote awareness and raise important funds for the fight against cancer. For a $70 donation to the SSAA NSW and SMISC's Girls' Night In fundraising drive, the women who attended the evening got the chance to try shooting two pistols and one rifle all in a safe, supervised and fun environment. The night also involved music, food, mocktails and a raffle. SSAA NSW Executive Director Diana Melham says the Girls' Night In was a huge success with women of all ages and backgrounds getting involved and supporting a great cause. "I want to thank and congratulate all the ladies who attended and united in the power of pink. SSAA NSW together with the SMISC set a target of $4,000 to be raised at our first Girls' Night In and we well and truly smashed that." "Many of the ladies on the night have never been target shooting before so it was great to see them enjoying the night and each other's company." Cancer Council NSW representative Crystal Huynh praised the 'try shooting' idea behind this Girls' Night In and said it shows how the fundraiser is getting bigger and better every year.
