Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 6 SSAA National Centrefi re Benchrest Championships NSW shooters shine on the National stage Shooters from around Australia competed at the Championships which consisted of four disciplines all shot over 100 and 200 yard distances: Experimental/ Unlimited Rifl e, Sporter Rifl e, Light Varmint Rifl e and Heavy Varmint Rifl e. There were some outstanding performances from NSW shooters in the individual and team competitions as well as in the overall aggregate 2, 3 and 4-Gun categories. The Sporter Benchrest competition on Saturday was dominated by NSW shooters who claimed the top four places. Bathurst shooter Les Fraser took fi rst place with an aggregate score of .2857. Close behind in second place was Ean Parsons who fi nished with .2886 and rounding off the top three was Stuart Foate on .2902. The NSW shooters' form continued into the Light Rifl e competition on Sunday where NSW again fi nished in the top four. Light Rifl e had the most competitors with 54 shooters taking the fi eld. Out of them Coffs Harbour shooter Peter Fleming stood out with a .2176 to win, just ahead of state compatriot Thomas Spang in second place on .2181. Stuart Foate again fi nished in third with a score of .2410, however his luck was about to change. The 42nd SSAA National Centrefi re Benchrest Championships were held from Thursday 2 to Monday 6 April at the Jim McKinley Rifl e Range, SSAA Majura Complex, ACT.
