Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 7 SSAA National Centrefi re Benchrest Championships NSW shooters shine on the National stage NSW benchrest shooters put in a dominant performance at the 42nd SSAA National Centrefi re Benchrest Championships held at the Jim McKinley Rifl e Range, SSAA Majura Complex, ACT from Thursday 2 to Monday 6 April. Shooters from around Australia took part in the four disciplines being competed: Experimental/ Unlimited Rifl e, Sporter Rifl e, Light Varmint Rifl e and Heavy Varmint Rifl e. The Sporter Benchrest competition on Saturday was dominated by NSW shooters who claimed the top four places, led by Bathurst shooter Les Fraser who came fi rst with an aggregate score of .2857. NSW shooters continued their form into Sunday's Light Rifl e event with another top four fi nish, this time won by Coffs Harbour shooter Peter Fleming with a score of .2176. The next day's Heavy Rifl e competition saw NSW shooters place outside the top three however NSW shooter Stuart Foate had the last laugh. His consistent shooting over the weekend which included two third place fi nishes, saw him win the 3-Gun Aggregate and the Max Coady Trophy. The prized 4-Gun competition, awarded to the most consistent shooter across the four disciplines, was won by NSW shooter Murray Hicks who scored .3048 narrowly beating Queenslander Roger Marshall on .3053.
