Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 8 Mother's Day Try Shooting Night Inaugural fundraiser raises $1,000 for The McGrath Foundation Benches full on the night In honour of all mums, SSAA NSW Sydney Branch hosted their fi rst Mother's Day Try Shooting Event at The Holroyd Rifl e Range in Greystanes on Friday 8 May, two days before Mother's Day. The money raised on the night will be donated to The McGrath Foundation and the 'pink' theme, in support of the fi ght against cancer, could be seen everywhere from the balloons right down to the Range Safety Offi cer's pink vests. Participants on the night enjoyed their Try Shooting experience, using the Branch's rimfi re rifl es including a brand new Australian-made Lithgow Arms Crossover. Women, children (12 to 17 year olds) and partners left the range with a grin from ear to ear and many were keen to undergo a safe shooting course and take up the sport. This event would not have been possible without the help and effort of the Range Manager, Chris Deluca, the numerous volunteer range offi cers and the Sydney Branch Executive. A special thanks to Australian Once Fired Brass and Razorback Firearms for the generous donation of a pink rifl e bag to be raffl ed at a future event. Through participant fees plus extremely generous cash donations received on the night, the event raised $651 a further donation from Sydney Branch increased the total donated to $1,000. The SSAA NSW Sydney Branch are looking forward to their future events, especially to growing the number of female and junior participants and to positively increasing the sport's image in the wider community.
