Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 9 Big Spring Range Reopens SSAA NSW Wagga Wagga Branch's range reopens after 20 months The Big Springs Range, owned and run by SSAA NSW Wagga Wagga Branch, has fi nally fully reopened after 20 months. With the exception of the shotgun range, the Big Springs Range was closed in September 2013 due to safety concerns. The issue was that although the 40 hectare property contained the fi rst 900 metres of the rifl e template, the remainder ran into a national park with access to the public. The solution for this issue and to save the iconic Big Springs range was to convert it into a limited danger range, ensuring no projectile could escape from the area owned by the Branch. The project was split into three stages focusing on the 200 yard benchrest range, the fi eld rifl e & rimfi re silhouette range and the 500 metre fl y range. Through the hard work of the Wagga Wagga Branch Committee and volunteers as well as the expertise and assistance provided by SSAA NSW and the Board, the range was fully reopened on 14 May. The Branch funded the work on the benchrest range with SSAA NSW providing a grant for the remaining work on the other ranges.
