Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 6 SSAA NSW Fly State Championships Perfect winter shoot held in Batemans Bay The SSAA NSW Fly State Championships were hosted by SSAA NSW Batemans Bay Branch over the weekend of 27 and 28 June. Fly shooting, which aims at a target with a fl y in the centre, is an increasingly popular and competitive form of long range benchrest shooting. Over the two days of competition, there were 55 entries for Saturday's 500m centrefi re competition and an impressive 42 entries for the 200yard rimfi re on Sunday. It was a typical Batemans Bay June weekend, cold frosty mornings with beautiful sunny days. In Saturday's competition, Heavy Gun was won by Nick Aagren with a great score of 271.07, Peter van Meurs took second place with 263.05 and Tyson Trotter fi nished third. Vince Vaina won small group with 36mm and Les Fraser took best target with 58.02. Light Gun was won by Barry Tucker with 254.04 ahead of familiar faces Peter van Meurs and Tyson Trotter who fi nished second and third, respectively. Small group winner was Barry Tucker and Vince Vaina again took best target with 57.01. Sunday was the 200yard rimfi re which was won by Edward McGrann with 268.04, second was Glenn Seaman with 266.05 narrowly ahead of junior shooter Keegan Mcgrann in third on 266.01. Bryson Payne won the small group and Keegan Mcgrann took best target with 58 points. The top Junior places were Keegan McGrann (266.01), Scott Dundas (245.01), Alex Dundas (241.02), Hannah Seaman (239.01), Ryan Hall (236.03), Cohen Bonitz (196.01) and Jayden Wade (189.02). A big thank you to Lynne and Bryson Payne and their team of volunteers in the kitchen with great food on offer all day both days and also to the volunteers running the target crew.
