Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 9 Annual Game Night and Fly Shoot SSAA NSW Griffi th Branch host their annual camp SSAA NSW Griffi th Branch held their annual camp night on the weekend of 27 and 28 June at the Rankins Springs Range. Alongside the camp was a 500m and 200m fl y benchrest shoot as well as a special game night dinner. Numbers have been growing every year for this special family event and this year was no exception as members and families began to arrive on Saturday 27 June. The trucks and tents started to take shape and formed into a circle with the big fi replace at the centre. A number of members brought a large variety of game food sourced from their hunting trips while others could bring one of their salamis which is a big Griffi th tradition. A delicious variety of food was then prepared by the chefs or 'bush cooks' which ranged from freshly smoked trout cooked in sawdust from wine soaked barrels to whole leg of venison that was slowly cooked in the large gas cooker and soaked in Italian pasta sauce and herbs with a few glasses of wine. There was also a variety of kangaroo and rabbit dishes prepared. Needless to say there was plenty left over for lunch the following day. Sunday started with bacon and eggs and plenty of coffee for those involved in the fl y shoot which began at 9am. Before the competition began, awards were presented for a night rimfi re competition held at the Range a couple of weeks earlier. About 30 competitors took to the fi eld for the 200m and 500m fl y shoot events where shooters from as far as Cobar coming to compete. A number of junior shooters impressed at the shoot which was run with a mixed atmosphere of friendly competitiveness. Members at this year's camp concluded it with a commitment to do it all over again next year or sooner and with even more people.
