4 Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc.
From Diana's Desk
Let's all get the message out thereā¦
It was very pleasing to see the article
in the Daily Telegraph a few weeks
ago that featured single action junior,
Lilly-May Brown, who won the SSAA
NSW Single Action State Titles in the
Buckaroo category. We commend and
congratulate the journalist on her positive
and factual article.
SSAA NSW takes every opportunity to
positively promote the shooting sports
and the association. However, the truth
is positive articles such as this one are
few and far between. We are often
approached for statements on various
matters relating to the shooting sports.
Our approach is always to provide a
response whether that be to grant the
interview or provide a written reply. More
often than not our comments are not
published, or occasionally when they are,
it is usually an excerpt that doesn't truly
portray our viewpoint. It's an unfortunate
reality that many media outlets are not
going to give equal time to organisations
such as SSAA NSW when instead they
can get sensational grabs from ill-
informed anti-firearm campaigners.
Over the past couple of years SSAA
NSW has developed a number of key
messages that, at every opportunity,
are incorporated into any publicity or
interview that we do. These messages
revolve around safety, education,
responsible firearms ownership,
regulation of our sport and our
intolerance for those criminals who
choose to break firearms laws.
We also focus on the safe, fun and
unique aspect of our sport. Our sport
is one of the safest because everyone
involved takes safety extremely seriously;
