Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 4 AgQuip 2015 SSAA NSW draws thousands of visitors at this year's AgQuip field days More than 100,000 visitors from around Australia visited the 2015 AgQuip field days held in Gunnedah from Tuesday 18 to Thursday 20 August. SSAA NSW was back exhibiting at its third AgQuip, Australia's biggest agricultural and agri-product gathering with 28kms of laneways for visitors to explore. This year's event was the biggest, busiest and most successful to date for SSAA NSW. Thousands of shooters and non-shooters visited the SSAA NSW tent where more than 1,600 showbags were handed out while the Mobile Air Rifle Range attracted hundreds of first-time and experienced shooters. In addition to offering firearms safe handling courses, this year we also offered R-License assessments for those wanting to hunt in State forests. A total of 32 people underwent a safe handling course and 48 completed their R-License assessment, with almost all taking out SSAA membership. The SSAA NSW team included four staff members (Mitch Newbery, Jay Pandya, Michael Willis and Di Melham) and two SSAA NSW Board members (Mark Godwin & Richard Drozdowski). We were again fortunate to have the assistance of volunteers from SSAA NSW Branches who manned the Air Rifle Mobile Range. Visitors to the SSAA NSW exhibit learnt about the role of SSAA NSW and the whole range of safe, fun and unique opportunities available in the shooting sports. There were many discussion on a variety of topics including firearms legislation, how to get a licence, hunting and the issues facing firearm owners in NSW.
