Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 3 President's Message I was amazed to discover how many members are missing out on the SSAA Firearms Insurance offer. It's exclusive to members and it's great value...For only $25 you get $25,000 worth of fi rearms cover. So what's holding members back? SSAA National tasked me with hiring a market research company to run Focus Groups in three states. They found that members are very wary of insurance offers, nervous about the small print or have had a bad experience with other insurance companies. Many thought their home contents policy was the answer. What's more, the Gold Membership name for the offer was being interpreted as a higher level of membership. Also, promotion for the offer wasn't clear enough. So what's the answer? Now the insurance offer has a new clearer name, it's now SSAA Firearms Insurance and the offer is simple. For $25 per year your fi rearms will be covered up to $25,000 against theft, loss or damage. They are covered at home, in the fi eld or overseas for up to 28 days and there's a small excess of only $100 on claims. If your fi rearms are covered on your home contents policy then the excess could be $400 or more and you're probably only covered at home unless you pay extra. I personally saved $110 by taking my fi rearms off my contents policy. Read what Trevor Jenkin from SSAA Insurance Brokers has to say about this great-value, exclusive SSAA insurance offer on page 10. You can trust SSAA to cover your fi rearms. It's Federal election time. For the coming federal election SSAA National will be putting out an election guide. As you know, SSAA NSW is committed to working with any political party that complements our aims and objectives. In May I was invited to interview Liberal Democrats Federal Senator, David Leyonhjelm. He talked about his commitment to licenced shooters and legal fi rearms in Canberra. David is a SSAA member and was on the SSAA NSW Board some years ago. It was David who fi rst attempted to introduce strategic planning and corporate governance to SSAA NSW, the interview is on page 9. Also the Honourable Rick Colless MLC of the NSW Nationals spoke to the NSW Shooter. His interview is on page 8. Rick recently addressed our AGM as the NSW Nationals' spokesperson on fi rearms issues and he is a supporter of licenced shooters. In fact, many high profi le politicians are "closet" shooters and I am disappointed that they won't stand up for the sport like David and Rick. But worse still, some parties work openly against our aims and objectives with one trying to destroy our now highly successful National Parks Supplementary Pest Control program. Just check out the lies and miss-information on social media. At this Federal election I personally will be supporting politicians with a proven track record of defending our freedoms in Canberra. The old saying is still true… Vote for the Government you want in the House of Representatives - Vote for your sport in the Senate - nothing beats a proven track record of fi ghting for shooters' freedoms in Canberra. The never ending fi ght goes on. Recently I was elected Senior Vice President of SSAA National and consider this a great honour. Dennis Maroney from Victoria was elected as Junior Vice President. The new executive team is committed to giving our members an even more powerful voice and protecting your freedoms. These days to protect our sport it takes logical discussion, common sense, networking, a big dose of patience and a huge membership base to get anywhere. Each year our membership is growing and we will pass 200,000 members nationally before 2020. Today the SSAA is the second largest shooting organisation in the world and we are the world's largest shooting organisation per capita. So show you're a member by wearing the logo with pride and tell your friends and work mates about our great sport and the wonderful camaraderie we enjoy. Only the SSAA has been protecting shooters since 1948. Seeya at the SHOT Expo, Paul McNabb President - SSAA (NSW) Inc. Senior Vice President SSAA National ARE YOU MISSING OUT ON A GREAT MEMBERSHIP OFFER?
