16 Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. Ask Trevor SSAA Firearms Insurance Question: How do I make a claim with SSAA Insurance? Answer: In the event of a damage or loss of property claim you can either: 1. Complete the relevant claim form (refer to www.ssaaib.com.au) and submit to SSAA Insurance Brokers, or 2. Ring SSAA Insurance Brokers and report the claim. We will still need a claim form completed but can advise the underwriter of the potential claim in the interim. If you do suffer a loss please ensure that the remainder of your property is not exposed to further loss or damage and be aware that in the event of serious damage, your Insurer's may appoint a Loss Adjuster to inspect the damage and authorise repairs. In most cases minor damage repairs will be authorised upon receipt of the completed claim form and repair quotation. If you have an incident that may give rise to a liability claim: 1. Do not admit Liability, 2. Ask the third party to submit the claim or complaint in writing, 3. Complete a claim form concerning the incident (refer to www.ssaaib.com.au), 4. I mmediately forward all correspondence to SSAA Insurance Brokers. When it comes to claims or any insurance matter if there are any problems or difficulties then contact should be with us AS SOON AS YOU CAN. Answer: First up, SSAA Insurance is an Insurance Broker, hence we do not underwrite the risk or set the premium rates – that is all done by the insurance companies. As an Insurance broker we work on behalf of all SSAA members and our direct clients. We help our clients identify their exposures and risks by understanding their business, to determine what needs insuring and what can be managed in other ways. SSAA Insurance Brokers have access to a variety of insurance products and have the ability to deal with a wide range of insurance companies directly. Through dealing in the industry we are aware of the benefits, exclusions and costs of competing policies to enable the best possible outcome for our clients and members. So even though brokers do not set the premiums we can often find you a good deal on insurance because we can negotiate premiums on your behalf. Also by assisting you to work to a risk management program, which puts some of the responsibility for risk prevention and loss minimisation on you or your business will assist us in reducing your premium costs.
