8 Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. Thousands of hunting and shooting enthusiasts converged on the NSW south coast town of Narooma for the 2016 SSAA NSW HuntFest held over the Queen's Birthday long weekend in June. It was the second HuntFest with SSAA NSW as naming right sponsors. Credit goes to event organisers South Coast Hunters Club for their determination and dedication to ensure this south coast event continues to grow as well as attract visitors and exhibitors from around the state and country. The new SSAA NSW Mobile Air Rifle Range was a big attraction this year, operating non-stop over the two days with friends and family taking part in some good natured rivalry. St Marys Indoor Shooting Centre was a popular exhibit being the only one with firearms and ammunition for sale. Other exhibitions included hunting clubs, suppliers, boating, camping, 4WD and showcased the very latest products and technology, not to mention the ever popular skinning, caping, butchery and sausage making demonstrations where it was standing room only. SSAA NSW staff along with volunteers from SSAA NSW Sydney and Batemans Bay Branches were joined by DPI Game Licensing Unit staff in the SSAA NSW stand answering enquires and handing out showbags. R-Licence Accreditation was hugely popular with almost 50 people sitting the test while the Safe Shooting Courses were also fully booked. The Department of Primary Industries (DPI) also carried out waterfowl identification tests (WIT) to visitors that had pre-booked and expressed interest.
