10 Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. SSAA NSW Annual General Meeting Held on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 May This year at the AGM we continued our focus of the past years; to not only inform delegates on the activities of SSAA NSW, but to update them on topical issues currently impacting on our sport to enable them to in turn, update their Committees and Branch members. We again had a number of guests attend the AGM and present to the delegates. Our guests from the NSW Firearms Registry included Director Bluey Lyons who was accompanied by Taryne Jay, the Registry's Lawyer and Nicole Lawrence, Change Manager coordinating the development and implementation of the new Firearms Licensing Information System. Delegates were given the opportunity to make suggestions for features they'd like to see incorporated in the new system, they were also provided with an overview of the proposed concept for the system as well as the chance to ask questions on issues of concern. Bryce Wilde, Executive Director of the Natural Resources Commission provided an update on both the Government's review of pest animal management in NSW and the Supplementary Pest Control Program. Dr Andrew Moriarty, Director DPI Game Licensing Unit provided an update on the activities of the GLU over the past year including the Hunter LEAP training and education program. Trevor Jenkin, Manager of the SSAA Insurance Brokers conducted an interactive Q&A session with delegates giving them the opportunity to clarify any insurance questions they may have. A highlight of the AGM was the visit by 'Tank' a Tasmanian Devil from Devil Ark who acquainted himself with delegates whilst Liz Vella, Curator, provided a presentation on Devil Ark outlining its history, objectives, activities, facility in the Barrington Tops and the partnership with SSAA NSW. Presentations were also provided by a number of SSAA NSW representatives on the work and achievements of the past year as well as the plans for the future, SSAA NSW range projects, advocacy and representation, recreational hunting programs and activities, disciplines and St Marys Indoor Shooting Centre. Elections were held for three vacant positions with Rob Austin (Southern Highlands) being elected as Junior Vice President for three years. Ben Smith (Forbes) and Scott Wagner (Northern Rivers) were both elected for three year terms as Board members.
