the shooting sports, recreational hunting and firearms ownership. Much of the achievements and successes can be attributed to the incredibly dedicated and skilled team at the SSAA NSW Office and the wide range of business skills and expertise brought to the NSW Board by the Directors. Volunteers form an essential part of the association and play an integral role in delivering benefits to members at the grass roots level. SSAA NSW is the ultimate example of teamwork with multiple groups and individuals all pulling together to cement its position as the strongest shooting association in New South Wales. Diana Melham Executive Director - SSAA (NSW) Inc. 6 Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. From Diana's Desk With the use of the Mobile Air Rifle Range and support of Try Shooting Days, SSAA NSW has expanded its promotion of the shooting sports. During 2016 SSAA NSW participated in a number of field days, charity fundraising events and expos throughout the state. The Mobile Range provides a unique opportunity for the general public to try shooting in a safe and relaxed environment. These first-hand experiences, whilst labour intensive, are the most effective way to get the community to understand and accept our sport. The SSAA NSW hosted SHOT Expo broke all previous records with over 15,000 people attending the event over two days. SSAA NSW HuntFest 2016 was also another success with attendance numbers increasing on 2015. Interaction with the media is constantly challenging with our reasoned and factual statements often ignored or dismissed as they do not add to the hype of a story. However, SSAA NSW has been successful in having the media and politicians recognise the difference between law abiding firearms owners and criminals with growing public acknowledgment by both that illegal firearms are the issue. SSAA NSW has developed a new concept to enhance and expand communication channels with Branches and also offer improved information management at the Branch level. Our Electronic Attendance System has been developed and will be trialled by five Branches. The system has been built to enable flexibility to meet the varied environments our Branches operate within and will enable streamlined recording of range attendees. Branch Committees will also have access to up to date member information and the ability to create and print various reports. The system provides a tool which will reduce the administrative burden on Branch Committees. It's been an incredibly busy, yet productive year with more benefits and advantages close to being delivered. We already have the planning and strategy in place for the near future and over the next twelve months we will build on the achievements of this year to deliver more member benefits and continue to strengthen SSAA NSW's position as the State's peak body for The NSW Shooter is published by the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc Disclaimer: Please note that the views expressed are not necessarily those of SSAA (NSW) Inc.
