10 Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. Duval High School Target Shooters During 2016/17 the Duval Target Shooters have enjoyed their Thursday afternoons shooting at both the SSAA NSW Armidale and Guyra Branch Ranges. Duval High School's Principal Mr Stafford Cameron continues to encourage and give his full support to the students to pursue junior shooting, recognising not only the need to offer target shooting as a school sport but also the all-round benefits for the students who participate and engage one hundred percent in their chosen sport. Over the past five years Duval High School has had many students enter the world of junior shooting becoming members of the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia under both Armidale and Guyra Branches. Some students who continue to complete the junior program have started with either little or no experience, while others have been involved through family members. For some of these students developing and improving their skills has given them opportunities to compete in local, regional, state and national competitions with amazing results. Just in the last twelve months alone, students Karl Simpson, Lachlan Williamson and Tiffany Tarrant have all returned home with medals and trophies from both State and National Competitions including Grouping, Hunter and International Rimfire Benchrest events which is an outstanding achievement. It is inspiring to have such a great group of junior shooters challenging themselves to improve their skills every week throughout the school terms as well as contributing to the bright future of target shooting. SSAA NSW very kindly donated 'Marksman' and in the case of the above-mentioned students 'Expert Marksmen' medallions to Duval High School for the target shooting team in recognition of their continued success and commitment which were presented to the team by Mr Cameron. Many thanks from the students to Mr Stafford Cameron, Mr Warren Lacey, Mr Tom Model, Mr Tom Keys and coordinator Suellen Simpson along with all the other mentors from the SSAA NSW Branches who continue to volunteer their time to help and support them.
