First-hand experience is the best marketing tool… SSAA NSW was recently contacted by an ABC journalist who was doing a story on firearms. He was particularly interested in the Adler and, not having ever fired a firearm, wanted to know what all the hype was about. So, we offered him the chance to find out first-hand and were pleasantly surprised when he accepted. Although he was feeling apprehensive, after completing his P650 and under the direct supervision of Mitch Newbery he fired one round, then five out of an Adler lever action shotgun. He soon realised that it's not the slick "rapid fire weapon" portrayed by the anti-gunners and media, and that shooting is a very safe, fun and challenging activity. But… the best part of this story is that he contacted us a few days later to let us know he'd joined SSAA and was in the process of getting his firearms licence. Try shooting activities are the best way for people to 'give it a go' in a safe and relaxed environment; individual members, Branches and Clubs can all get involved, whether it be by taking a mate, relative or colleague to the range or an organised Try Shooting event. These first-hand experiences, whilst labour intensive, are the most effective way to get non-shooters to understand, accept and sometimes even join our sport.
