Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 7 SSAA NSW – Annual General Meeting This year at the AGM we continued our focus on continued delivery of what members want. The AGM is a perfect opportunity to not only inform delegates about the activities and achievements of SSAA NSW, but to update them on topical issues currently impacting on our sport to enable them to in turn, update their Committees and Branch members. Presentations were also provided by a number of SSAA NSW representatives on the work and achievements of the past year as well as the plans for the future: the strategy that will make SSAA NSW more effective in infl uencing decisions around our sport; the new communication platform for Branches; the SSAA NSW range acquisition, development and management strategy; the continued increase in SSAA NSW recreational hunting programs and activities; as well as updates on advocacy and representation, disciplines, membership and St Marys Indoor Shooting Centre. We again had a number of guests attend the AGM and present to the delegates. National President Geoff Jones provided an update on SSAA National's NFA campaign; the NSW Firearms Registry's Director Bluey Lyons and Matt Kehoe provided an insight into how the NFA would impact on fi rearms legislation in New South Wales. Tim Faulkner, CEO of Devil Ark outlined the benefi ts of the partnership for SSAA NSW as well as the new Aussie Ark initiative which will see SSAA NSW and its members exclusively responsible for the management of feral animals at both Devil Ark and Aussie Ark. A highlight of the AGM was the dinner speaker, Dr Grahame Webb, who provided a very entertaining insight into the development of wildlife conservation over the years. Elections were held for three vacant positions with Roy Butler (Dubbo) being elected as Senior Vice President for three years. Stephen Bowler (Tenterfi eld) and Lance Miller (Coffs Harbour) were both elected for three year terms as Board members. Volunteer Awards Volunteers are the life blood of our Association – without the efforts of the many members who volunteer their time to perform a wide range of duties, there would be no Branches, no activities, no ranges, no training and no safe shooting courses.
