Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 7 SSAA SHOT EXPO & Political Parties SSAA SHOT Expo is Australia's premier event for the shooting sports, showcasing the latest on offer for shooting, hunting and outdoor activities. Over the past years Expo has grown in size with more and more exhibitors and visitors attending each event; 15,000+ visitors attended the Sydney Expo in 2016 and 17,000+ were at the Melbourne Expo in 2017. The event not only attracts exhibitors, but many pro- shooting pro-fi rearms bodies including political parties, associations, clubs and special interest groups. SSAA SHOT Expo is held in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth in alternate years. Whilst the event is owned by SSAA National, each Expo is managed and hosted by the individual SSAA state bodies. Host states have the authority to determine who can exhibit and may also impose conditions; this is most relevant when it comes to political parties and other shooting bodies. SSAA NSW has publicly stated on numerous occasions that it will support pro-fi rearm and pro-SSAA political parties and politicians. As the largest shooting body in NSW, part of our role is to inform our members and other law-abiding fi rearms owners on relevant matters that impact upon their chosen sport; this is especially important when it comes to political parties and their representatives, given the infl uence they can have on fi rearms laws and regulations. For the 2018 Sydney SHOT Expo, SSAA NSW is inviting registered political parties that are pro-fi rearm and pro- SSAA NSW to attend the event. Any political party wanting to exhibit at SHOT Expo will be required to complete a questionnaire which will seek their position on topical fi rearms issues and determine their support for SSAA NSW prior to being accepted. Parties and their representatives will be required to agree to and abide by conditions that will exclude or remove parties and/ or representatives that malign SSAA and/or any of its entities. Approved parties will be provided with their own booth in an allocated area free of charge and have their questionnaire responses published in the June edition of the NSW Shooter, and via other electronic means for all members and others to view. Also on public record is SSAA NSW's commitment to work collaboratively with other pro-shooting organisations and our desire for a united voice in order to achieve positive outcomes for fi rearms owners and the shooting sports. No one body can achieve results alone; working together towards a common goal using our varied resources to achieve outcomes is the best way to deliver positive benefi ts to licensed fi rearms owners and the shooting sports. SSAA NSW welcomes and encourages other pro- shooting bodies that wish to exhibit at this year's SHOT Expo in Sydney to contact the event organisers for further information about booth pricing and availability. The same conditions that apply to political parties with regard to support for SSAA and its entities will also apply to all other shooting bodies involved in the Expo. The 2018 Sydney SHOT Expo will be the biggest event yet – we're utilising the entire Rosehill Gardens complex and expecting 20,000 visitors this year. Make sure you mark June 23 & 24 in your diary – it's an event not to be missed!
