Something that our Hunter LEAP Trainers have been asked repeatedly of late has been about how to download public land maps onto their iPhone or Android devices. Thanks to our friends at the Department of Primary Industries Game Licensing Unit, we would like to share with you a simple method of getting your maps and we hope that others may also benefit from this information. When you are booking your hunt and the GPS Mapping Option screen appears, you will see a corresponding pdf. map on the download list. Copy the web url (web address) Open Avenza Click 'Add' Paste 'URL' From web With the game hunting season upon us there are swathes of people ready to head out to their favourite little honey hole or even scout new territory. Downloading GPS maps to your smartphone If you haven't already, download the Avenza PDF Maps app either through the App Store or Google play. Click Go and the map will start uploading automatically then you are done. Alternatively, you can navigate to the 'View and Download Public Land GPS Mapping Data' at any time by clicking on the download link on the Online Licence Holder Services landing page via the Department of Primary Industries website https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/hunting/online-services. Note, you should download the current map each time you book your hunt. Game Hunting Season for Fallow, Red and Wapiti 1 March – 31 October, Hog deer 1 April – 30 April only. Some regulations have been suspended in certain areas. This applies to private land only. Check the DPI website for more information and make sure you stay compliant.
