One of the great attractions of the shooting sports
is its flexibility to cater for people of all ages, genders
and abilities.
This broad appeal is just one of the reasons that the
growth of our female membership has increased
markedly in the last five years, and the growing
participation of women in the shooting sports recently
caught the eye of SBS Viceland.
Viceland's interest saw them attend the St Marys Indoor
Shooting Centre on 5 May for our first annual Ladies
Shoot. With 16 ladies on hand, from school students
and first-time competition shooters to a national
biathlete, who participated in two events; the Winchester
and Rimfire Benchrest matches.
Beginning with a briefing on the events of the day, the
competition was fierce with a broad range of age groups
represented, the youngest shooter a year ten student.
The ladies showed no difficulty in handling the attention
of both our own photographer and the filming crew of
Viceland, hitting targets regularly and accurately.
Speaking of regularity, there seemed to be a theme of
regularity in our winners, with Michelle Man taking out
both the Winchester and Rimfire Benchrest events,
