Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 9 Considering the individual roles of SSAA NSW people, volunteers scored highest among members on whether their performance was good or very good (70%). A majority rated staff and management good/very good (61%) and gave the same rating to the current Board (51%). However, it is important to note that this was offset by high 'No opinions' for these people (20% for staff and 30% for the Board). The survey asked members to give SSAA NSW a score out of 10 for its performance on five key areas of operation. Members felt that SSAA NSW performed best on providing access to shooting ranges, with an average rating of 7.3. It's lobbying efforts to change firearms laws scored 6.1 and promoting the shooting sports to the general public 6.0. Members felt its performance was not as strong on providing access to hunting opportunities, including training (5.2) and supporting Branches and Affiliate Clubs to build membership (5.1). Influencing government Most members saw a central role for SSAA NSW in influencing government and 71% rated SSAA NSW as effective in bringing about reasonable firearms laws while 60% believed The Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party had been effective. Members also had views on the image that both organisations create in the eyes of the general public about the shooting sports, recreational hunting and firearms ownership. SSAA NSW was seen as creating a positive image by 59% of members while The Shooters Fishers and Farmers Party was thought to portray a positive image by 37%.
