Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 19 I would like to take this opportunity to advise you that Greg Brown has resigned from SSAA General Insurance Brokers and finished up in September. Fortunately for us, Ali Mulla joined the brokerage 14 months ago as Greg's assistant and we had no hesitation in promoting Ali to Greg's role as SSAA's NSW Insurance Broker. Ali's appointment affords me the opportunity to explain the role of SSAA General Insurance Brokers (SSAAIB) and what part Ali will play in the brokerage, SSAAIB is an Insurance Brokerage and Ali is employed as an Insurance Broker. SSAAIB see Ali's role as more of an Insurance Advisor to SSAA, SSAA members and our clubs. Most of our clubs see insurance as an important tool for protection, but all too often it is treated as a commodity with not enough thought going into what or how much insurance is needed. The result of this can be underinsurance, a gap in cover even total exclusions of covers. Tragically this may only become apparent after a claim, incident or when catastrophe strikes. As a SSAA Insurance Advisor Ali's role is to: • Take the time to understand your club's activities, its exposures, and its insurance needs. With this, Ali can then suggest an insurance plan that meets your requirements and budget. Remember, the better Ali understands all your activities, the layout of the club etc. the better the advice and service he can provide you. • Provide advice and guidance with respect to the insurance products, the cover they provide as well as their limits, gaps and exclusions. • Assist with providing and coordinating risk management advice. This could be as simple as general fire protection and hazard advice or a more complicated risk survey report. • Be available to answer your questions. Ali is here to provide service and advice all year round. Not just when the club's insurances are due to be renewed. • Represent your club at claim time to ensure the policy responds for the best it can and that the insurers involved meet their obligations in full. When required, Ali will work with SSAAIB's claims department and assist with the management of the claim from start to finish. One final note - SSAAIB and Ali understand that price is important and by no means should any club (or business) pay more for their insurance than necessary. But you should also carefully consider the value you place on properly protecting the club's assets. Being dictated by price alone can result in the wrong type of cover and have the same ramifications as not taking out any insurance at all! To find out more about the services that SSAAIB and Ali can provide, please give Ali a call on 0455 777 685, he is always up for a chat.
