20 Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. Indoor Archery Practice Paralympics where he took home a bronze medal. Jonathon is a regular at these nights and helps with coaching and technique with the attendees, along with resident instructor Charlie. Jonathon also brings tools along and helps the fine tuning of bows and arrows during the night. An important measure for bowhunters is the ability to determine their own effective shooting range. This is done by accurately and consistently hitting a target with a size proportionate to that of the target species to be hunted. For instance, the effective kill zone area of most large goats, pigs and deer is about 20 cm. The indoor environment at the Centre is the perfect starting point to start honing this proficiency. The block targets are set up at varying distances from 10 m through to 40 m and the red target area is 16 cm. Whilst we can only use field point arrows on the block targets, those who bring their own targets can use broadheads. It's hard to believe that a little over two years ago, St Marys Indoor Shooting Centre started running a monthly Archery Practice night. The event was introduced for those who enjoy hunting with archery equipment and wanted to hone their skills in an all- weather indoor environment. It was a concept suggested by one of the Centre's staff, Charlie Muscat, whose love of the outdoors and passion for bowhunting saw the development of a very successful program. The Archery Practice night enables like-minded people looking for somewhere they can practice after hours, to gather together in a friendly atmosphere where they can fine tune their bows and discuss all the latest in the archery world. The program provides a place for beginners to learn from some of the most experienced bowhunters and archers in NSW, including Australian Paralympic archer Jonathon Milne, winner of the National Para Championships in Melbourne back in 2015. Jonathon also went on to represent Australia at the 2016 Rio
