23 NOVEMBER 2021 "With my return to being a Range Officer in 2015, I also took the opportunity to become a Safe Shooting Instructor and a DPI R Licence trainer. I began to take an interest in introducing new shooters to the sport, allowing me to draw upon my previous weapons instructor experience to teach shooters the basic fundamental skills required. "Some of my most enjoyable shooting experiences have been at the Sydney branch Ladies Shooting Program events where we provide a safe and friendly environment for women to have their first time using a firearm. It is great to watch their confidence grow as they become more comfortable behind the rifle and through these events many go on to get their licence and become regulars at the range. "I have also enjoyed operating the SSAA NSW mobile air rifle range at Narooma's Huntfest event and coaching young shooters in their first experience with a firearm, then watching them come back and compete with each other to achieve ever smaller group sizes. "In September of this year I took on the role of Sydney branch President, replacing Les Gardner who had stepped down from the role after 12 months due to personal circumstances, but will remain on the committee. As President I am committed to helping SSAA NSW and Sydney branch continue to highlight the benefits of the shooting sports and in turn growing Membership numbers across all Branches. "I am a strong believer of the Sydney branch mantra of Loud and Proud and it was pleasing to see so many shooters get behind the recent SSAA NSW campaign of a petition to stop the introduction of the Criminal Use Bill. This is a great example of what can be achieved when we all work together. "With the lifting of COVID restrictions in Sydney our ranges are reopening, so I am excited to get back out there to speak with shooters, new and old and send some rounds down range again. Hopefully if time permits I will even get the chance to get out for a hunt or two." SSAA NSW thanks all Branch Presidents and their teams for their hard work and we look forward to working with Adam in his new role as Branch President. It is great to watch their confidence grow as they become more comfortable behind the rifle.
