2013 National Sporting Clays Championships Upcoming Events Despite chilly conditions on the Hay Plains, 66 competitors from NSW and Victoria came to compete in a 200 target event at SSAA NSW Hay Branch who have recently installed a 50ft and a 100ft tower – the highest shotgun tower in Australia. SSAA NSW TAREE/WINGHAM BRANCH WILL HOST THE STATE MUZZLELOADING TITLES (RIFLE/PISTOL) 22-23 SEPTEMBER 2013 The layout was a formidable challenge that tested the shooting skills of competitors. While no competitor managed a perfect round of 25 a number did achieve a very credible 24. After the counting was complete Griffith shooter Doug Osborne held onto the lead to take home the High Gun Award and the title of 2013 National Sporting Clays Champion with a score of 165/200 while Victorian Nick Guerra finished just one target behind in second. Entry is $6 per event. Nominations should be received by 1 September to aid squadding. SSAA NSW TILTERWEIRA YOUTH CAMP 21-29 SEPTEMBER 2013 Applications are still open for juniors between 14-17 years of age. Participants will gain practical hunting experience with fully licenced and accredited volunteers. National Sporting Clays Champion Doug Osborne Juniors will participate in a variety of workshops on a range of topics including bullet placement, map reading, survival skills and game meat preparation.
