AgQuip 2013 – August 20, 21 & 22 Last week four members of the SSAA NSW team headed up the New England Highway bound for Gunnedah - home of Australia's largest Agricultural Festival – AgQuip. do events like these as a membership drive, it was very encouraging to see so many people want to sign up on the spot!" For those who have never been to an agricultural show before, it's filled as far as they eye can see with tractors and trailers, livestock, camping equipment, 4x4 buggies and clothing retailers. And, for the first time, there was the SSAA NSW stand and Mobile Air Rifle Range. Over the course of the three days we spoke with people about what SSAA NSW is doing to promote the safe, fun and unique range of shooting sports, answered questions about SSAA Public Liability Insurance (which all members are covered by), updated people with information about hunting on public land and spoke about the Association's members only hunting property – Tilterweira. In total more than 700 people came to try the SSAA NSW Mobile Air Rifle Range, firing more than 8,000 shots! Diana also thanked the Gunnedah and Narrabri Branches for supporting the event. "Volunteers are such a huge part of our Association, so I'd like to thank Noela, John, Rae, Dave, Michael and Maryanne as well as all the local Branch members who dropped by to say hello." One of those was 12 year old Brock who, despite only having shot once before, put together easily the best two groupings of the day, and one of the best ever seen! SSAA NSW Executive Director Diana Melham believes AgQuip was a stunning success. "We knew we would be busy as AgQuip is a huge show that people travel from all over NSW to attend. But what we didn't expect was the incredible reception we received. Several of the staff and volunteers mentioned people coming up to them to pat them on the back and Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. say thanks for being here. And even though we don't Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 10 10
