10 Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. Shooters and Fishers Party FIREARMS LEGISLATION The Shooters and Fishers Party commits to: • Supporting ALL law abiding firearm owners regardless of their chosen discipline or shooting interests; • Repealing the 1996 National Firearms Agreement on the basis that the NFA has failed to increase public safety. While we will repeal the entire NFA, we do recognise the value of retaining laws relating to safe storage of firearms. • Immediately repeal the Firearms Amendment (Ammunition Control) Bill 2012, referred to as the Ammo Bill. • Introduce mandatory sentencing for all criminals who use a firearm in the commission of a serious offence; • Waive firearms licence and firearm registration costs for past or current Defence Force personnel in recognition of their service to our Country; • Abolish the registration of Category A and B firearms with all savings to be re-invested into front line policing and crime prevention strategies; • Remove the requirement to register paintball markers; • Offer firearms safety training and practical range experience as an approved school elective; • Introduce a TAFE course to train and accredit gunsmiths; and • Remove restrictions on the use of sound moderators. SHOOTING RANGES The Shooters and Fishers Party commits to: • Continue and expand the successful MACOSC grant program, established by the Shooters and Fishers Party that has delivered more than $13 million in funding to shooting and hunting clubs across Australia. • Support the establishment of additional ranges to accommodate the increasing number of new shooters while retaining and enhancing all existing facilities. This includes the commitment secured by the Shooters and Fisher Party for new ranges in both the Wollongong / South Coast region and the Newcastle / Hunter region; and • Work with both the NSW and Federal Governments to resolve issues around ANZAC Range at Malabar that meets with approval from the Range users. HUNTING The Shooters and Fishers Party commits to: • Increase the amount of public land available to licensed conservation hunters to help control invasive species; • Abolish the Animal Welfare Advisory Council; • Support and promote the potential value of hunting tourism to the NSW economy; and • Introduce a fox and wild dog bounty.
