Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 7 SSAA NSW 5-Stand State Titles Father and daughter duo crowned champions The SSAA NSW 5-Stand State team State Titles Majura 2015 State Champion Darren Macartney with daughter and Junior Champion Mikayla Darren Macartney from SSAA NSW Hay Branch was crowned the 2015 SSAA NSW 5-Stand State Champion while his daughter Mikayla took out the Junior title. Both shotgun shooters hit targets consistently well over the two day competition held on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 May at the Majura Park Gun Club. Competitors from around NSW, including Newcastle, Bermugui, Griffi th, Hay, and Sydney took part in a challenging competition, with a variety of looping high targets to very low crossing targets. Only one perfect 25/25 round was shot over the weekend and that was by Darren on day two to eventually fi nish with a High Gun score of 170/200. Daughter Mikayla took the lead on Saturday in her under 18s junior grade and held on until the end of the competition with a score of 141/200 to be crowned SSAA NSW 5-Stand Junior Champion. A great achievement while still in her fi rst year of shooting. The SSAA NSW 5-Stand State Titles also determined the NSW team which will compete at the Nationals in Toowoomba, Queensland later in July. Led by Darren Macartney, the team included Greg Allen (Griffi th), Rod McCloy (Newcastle), Brent Suprain (Newcastle) & Anthony Blacker (Griffi th), with reserves Jamie Cirillo and Peter Jacka. It was a successful event made possible by the generous sponsorship by Gamebore Cartridges (Intershooting) and Casella Wines of Griffi th. While volunteers made the days run smoothly, including shoot administration, handled by Rachel in the offi ce, and the ladies in the kitchen who provided everyone with warm, delicious meals.
