Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Inc. 8 Newly completed range extensions in Forbes SSAA NSW Forbes Branch band together to upgrade range SSAA NSW Forbes Branch was formed in 1992 and has since grown in to a modern, well-equipped range which has prospered with the hard work of its committee and its volunteers. By 2014 the Branch's range had begun to outgrow its existing facilities and it was decided to undertake extensions to accommodate the growing membership and popularity of the sport. Following consultation with members, it was proposed that additional undercover space be built to accommodate more benches and provide a covered area for other disciplines. A toilet with disabled access was also included in the plans. At their next meeting these plans were presented to members for approval. Members then volunteered their time obtaining quotes from local suppliers whilst others began work on funding the project. The project was completed through a united effort. Alongside a SSAA NSW Branch Development Grant and the funding from the Forbes Branch, local business owners donated goods and labour while member volunteers provided much of the labour during construction. A big thank you to the following people for their contribution to the extensions and renovations to the range: Darren Cowan, Wayne Parsons, Jessie Hamilton, Joel Duggan, David Todd, Mary Hamilton, Ken South, Bruce Sayers and Pam Parsons. Also a thanks to Darren Cowan Mobile Welding and Fabrication, Haley's Power Tools Plus and Acheson's Home Timber & Hardware for their donation of numerous items and labour. A 'Try Shooting' Open Day was held at the Forbes Shooting Complex in October last year and showcased the new range extensions that were recently completed. The SSAA NSW Forbes Branch range has already held a number of state competitions in 2015 and hope to be involved in future shoots in 2016 and beyond.
